Excitement was building at dawn, as folks gathered around the seer of seers on Groundhogs Day in Gobblers Knob, Pennsylvania. The official Punxsutawney Groundhog Club took their one-hundred-twenty-eighth trek to Gobbler’s Knob lookout in Punxsutawney Pennsylvania to observe Punxsutawney Phil's winter prediction.
On Feb. 2, 2014, at precisely 7:28 a.m., amid rainy, overcast skies visitors waited in the cold to see if Punxsutawney Phil would see his shadow. While waiting for Phil to make his infamous appearance, many folks made their own predictions that Phil would not see his shadow.
Groundhogs Day 2014 proved no different than most other predictions since 1887, other than the 9 years no records were not kept. President Deely and Phil conversed in Groundhogese and this is what Phil had to say:
"A Super Bowl winner I will not predict,
But my weather forecast you cannot contradict,
That's not a football lying beside me,
It's my shadow you see,
So, six more weeks of winter it shall be!"
