PS4 and Xbox One version of 'GTA 5' discussed by voice actor

With rumors of a Grand Theft Auto 5 PC announcement looming, many are wondering whether Rockstar’s latest game will also find its way to the PS4 and Xbox One. According to a report by Psxextreme from Dec. 21, Lazlow Jones, a GTA 5 voice actor, was asked if GTA 5 would eventually find its way to the PS4 and Xbox One while on the Opie and Anthony Show.

Not shying away from the topic, Jones answered the question by stating that Rockstar Games was often asked the very same question. As to why a PS4 and Xbox One of GTA 5 wasn’t announced, Jones explained that the main reasoning was the lack of an install base for either console, at the time. He continued to add that Rockstar Games does have PS4 and Xbox One development kits and have had them for quite some time. Find Jones’ full comment below:

We got this question a lot even when GTA 5 was coming out. They said, you know, why don’t you just release it for the Xbox One and PS4. We said because nobody owns them yet.

When pushed for additional information on whether or not a PS4 and Xbox One version of GTA 5 was in development, Jones kept his cool and replied that they “haven’t announced anything.” Though there is mention of a possible wink, Jones plays it off as a “seizure,” though one could certainly interpret that has a potential hint. We haven’t announced anything. I hope it comes out on the next-gen.

Though lack of install base was a viable reason at the time given the two consoles had not yet released, the PS4 and Xbox One have each enjoyed successful launches in North America and other regions of the world.

Grand Theft Auto 5 was released in Sept. for Xbox 360 and PS3. Recent rumors suggest a March 2014 release for GTA 5 on PC.
