Initially showcased at E3 2012, the Luminous game engine that has been created by Square Enix showcases a completely new level of real-time visuals. It is most likely that this engine will be used by Square Enix to provide a new level of gaming with the help of the Xbox 720 and PS4.
To further showcase what exactly this next generation video game engine is capable of doing, Square Enix released a few new images that showcased various features within this engine. As provided by 360e on Feb. 13, these images showcase a variety of features such as shadows, specular, refraction, and blood. Square Enix has yet to confirm a future title that will take advantage of this engine. But, with the announcement of the PS4 coming very soon, hopefully Square Enix will surprise us with a reveal of an upcoming project that uses this next generation engine.
