Square Enix has re-posted several jobs on Jan. 25 regarding the development of their Luminous next-generation engine, which may be used for PS4 and Xbox 720 video games. According to a posting update from the jobs section of Gamasutra, the company is still looking for four different programmers (3D Graphics, AI, Animation in addition to Server/Database) to join their Tokyo-based studio. You can check out the capabilities of the Luminous engine from the “Final Fantasy” tech demo, as well as some concept designs of the PS4 and Xbox 720, in the slideshow at the top of this article.
Square Enix first revealed the Luminous game engine at the E3 2012 event. The aforementioned tech demo showed off highly-detailed graphics running in real-time. The studio is expected to use their internally-developed engine on the next-generation projects, which will most like include video games for the PS4 and Xbox 720.
Both upcoming consoles are projected to be coming out by the end of 2013. Sony and Microsoft are expected to formally announce their next-generation systems in the next couple of months.
