Pregnant woman pulled to hospital by sled during blizzard

Lauri Wood probably did not picture the birth of her fifth child including her being pulled by sled to the hospital. That is exactly what happened though due to the blizzard in Naugatuck, Conn., according to Huffington Post on Feb. 15.

After the blizzard ‘Nemo’ dropped three feet of snow where Lauri lived, the mother of four found herself in labor. The family car was buried in snow and their road was still impassable. So, her husband and a few neighbors had to think of a different plan.

Lauri’s husband James Wood and neighbors made a sled out of a car luggage carrier and ended up dragging her about 1,000 feet to the closest passable road. There were five men that drug the sled.

When they got Lauri to the passable road, a pickup truck picked them up and took them to Waterbury Hospital. Baby Jimmy was born about an hour after arriving at the hospital.

One thing is for sure, little Jimmy’s birth will be one to remember. Thanks to the effort of neighbors he was born safe and sound in the hospital.
