In today’s society, which is extremely social-media friendly, activities such as surfing the web, reading, writing, watching television, playing sports, exercising, going out to eat, and listening to music, have become some of our favorite pastimes.
Our hobbies are practiced regularly for enjoyment rather than work, to keep our mind and body actively competitive, or simply to take a break from reality, for relaxation and entertainment purposes.
But one pastime in particular, positive thinking, the intangible force behind every winner’s success, should be practiced everyday, by everyone, at every opportune moment during the course of the day. The result of such a massive amount of positive thinking would dynamically change the world, as we know it, for the better.
“A man can only rise, conquer, and achieve by lifting up his thoughts,” wrote James Allen, in his literary essay, As a Man Thinketh, published in 1902. “He can only remain weak, and abject, and miserable by refusing to lift up his thoughts.”
Positive thinking is a necessity, a life-altering tool or strategy used by great men and women to achieve their goals. When someone fulfills a purpose in his or her life, crossing the finish line with strength and elegance, they didn’t do it by luck or chance. They envisioned themselves winning beforehand and nurtured their aspiring visions with positive thinking.
“In all human affairs there are efforts and results, and the strength of the effort is the measure of the result; chance is not,” continued Allen. “Gifts, powers, material, intellectual, and spiritual possessions are the fruits of effort; they are thoughts completed, objects accomplished, and visions realized.”
