Update: A porn star teacher fired from Haydock Intermediate School in Oxnard in April of 2012, lost her appeal to get her job back. Tuesday, a three-judge panel said that Stacie Halas, 32, due to her indecent past in the adult film industry, is not fit to return to the classroom.
According to a Jan. 16 report from ABC News, a 46-page document was released Friday that outlined the decision to uphold the firing of the porn star teacher.
In part it says that while Halas was truthful about her past during her testimony, due to the permanent nature of the Internet, the adult images of the woman will compromise her ability to be a role model and teacher due to her porn past.
It all came to light when students informed officials about an adult video online in which Halas appeared in. The suggestions that a porn star teacher was on staff was mentioned.
In the beginning, officials dismissed the moonlighting claims. However, there was just one problem; school computers have firewalls that protect against pornography.
Nonetheless, when smartphones were used to access the adult site allegedly showing the teacher involved in sex acts, it was enough information to warrant termination. What's more, an ex-assistant principal testified under oath that Halas even talks about being a teacher at the start of one of the videos.
The former porn star teacher's attorney said his client wanted to be honest but faced potential embarrassment about coming clean.
He insists that she never starred in adult films during her tenure as a middle school teacher. Her work in porn took place from 2005-2006 at a time in which she was financially strapped after her relationship fell apart.
"We were hoping we could show you could overcome your past. I think she's representative of a lot of people who may have a past that may not involve anything illegal or anything that hurts anybody," Richard Schwab said.
"Miss Halas is more than just an individual fighting for her job as a teacher. I think she's representative of a lot of people who may have a past that may not involve anything illegal or anything that hurts anybody," Schwab added.
The case of the porn star teacher resulted in a failed appeal. However, her attorney suggested he may pursue justice in another court.
Should a teacher with a past in pornography be allowed in the classroom if they've done nothing criminal? What's the role in parents in protecting their kids from indecent Internet exposure?
