On Wednesday, reports surfaced that a 3-month-old baby had died because his father forgot him in his hot car as he worked. On Aug. 29, 2013, the father, Daniel Bryant Gray, was charged with manslaughter and child abuse, accused of smoking marijuana while his baby expired in the vehicle, according to CBS News.
KPHO reports that Gray, 31, allegedly smoked pot with another individual and lost track of time while his baby, Jamison Gray, sat in the hot car outside of BT’s Sports Pub near Scottsdale, Ariz.
Gray is a kitchen manager at the establishment.
CBS reports the temperature that day reached about 100 degrees.
Gray, along with a police officer who was the first to arrive on scene, tried to revive Jamison, but he was unresponsive, KPHO reports.
Gray told police he had stopped by the pub to check on the business, got distracted, and forgot his son was in the car. But later, investigators garnered information that led to them believe Gray and another person smoked pot while Jamison waited in the hot car, according to KPHO.
