On the morning of Sept. 16, police in Bridgeport, Conn. arrested 22-year-old Daquon Gomillion as the primary suspect in the worst case of child abuse that police say they've ever seen.
Gomillion’s 5-year-old son “had numerous scars on both legs, his back and chest, and part of one ear was missing. His lip had been split, healed over and split again,” according to The Connecticut Post.
The cruel 22-year-old father is accused of relentlessly and severely beating his son with an extension cord.
"The number of scars is too numerous to count, and the number exceeds the number that I have ever seen on any other child," said a doctor from Yale-New Haven Children's Hospital who examined the child. ~ NBC News
Police charged Daquon Gomillion with four counts of first-degree assault and four counts of risk of injury to a child.
"This is the worst case of child abuse I have seen in my 10 years in the department's youth bureau," said Detective David DeFeo.
Of special note is that the local Bridgeport cops in conjunction with the U.S. Marshal's Violent Crime Fugitive Task Force arrested Gomillion while he was attending a juvenile court hearing where the bad dad was arguing to retain custody of his son.
Red child abuse flags were first raised when the 5-year-old boy’s mom took her son to a dentist. The alert dentist contacted the state Department of Children and Families “after noticing the boy had several broken teeth, scarring from a split lip and numerous crescent-shaped scars on both arms.”
Police are holding Gomillion in lieu of $250,000 bond, pending his arraignment Tuesday in state Superior Court.
