It's here; prom and wedding season. What is more annoying than dancing the night away holding a purse? How about leaving your purse at your table and worrying about it being stolen. If only dress designers created gowns with pockets. Worry no more. Fortunately, there is a wonderful creation that will ease the frustration and anxiety of bringing a bag to the party.
PortaPortaPocket® is a carrying case designed to fit your calf, thigh, ankle, arm, or waist. They can be worn over or under your clothing. It is made from coated neoprene (same as wet suits but a lot lighter gauge) and velcro. and is very soft and comfortable when worn. They come in varying sizes to carry anything from money, credit cards, keys and lipstick.
The detachable pocket offers you ease of use in having both hands to work with while inserting and removing items from it, yet stays firmly in place when in mounted position. Now for the road test.
Pros: Comfortable to the point that you forget it is there (waking up the next day to find you are still wearing it is possible). Versitile as it can be worn anywhere the strap fits. Safe since it can be hidden under clothing, no one will know you have anything on you (wonderful for vacation).
Cons: Needed help strapping it on to the arm. Since only one hand was available, it was difficult to put on a bicep. For the plus sized set, as with many elastic products, the "rolling" issue was annoying. When bride tested she said, "It was easier to get lipstick from my M.o.H. than to go to the bathroom, lift layers of crinoline and tulle, and fight with the dress to get to the pocket." Well you can't win them all.
So the results are in. As long as you are not donning a 10-layer wedding cake dress, this product is a great solution when you have no pockets and do not want to carry a bag. I give it an 9 for creativity, versitality and descretion. All in all a great product for an affordable price.

I totally appreciate the concern when trying to strap this onto an upper arm, but here's a suggestion: find what size you'd like the band to be in circumference, and securely loop the band first, then slide it on. You'll find it much easier that way! I personally use my PortaPocket cases way more often on my leg (usually right above calf), but it's totally a personal taste issue and a matter of what works appropriately with your outfit (and activity!) of the moment... :)
