Pit bull saves owner from potential rapist

Buford, GA - A woman walking her dog was abducted by a knife-wielding man in mid-December. A sketch has just been released of the person responsible for the kidnapping and attempted rape that occurred on December 13.

The attack was frightening and disturbing as it was, but it could have been much worse if not for the intervention of the woman's other dog, a Pit Bull.

The man had attacked the woman while she was walking her Beagle on a road near her home. The man forced the woman, at knife-point, back to her home.

There, he forced her into a bedroom, confined her to a chair, cut her hair, and attempted to rip off her shirt. This is where the dog hero enters the picture.

The woman's other dog, a Pit Bull named Purple, rushed in as the man was attempting to rape her. Purple was able to bite the assailant, providing the victim just enough time to escape from her attacker, and her home.

The woman was able to call the police from her neighbor's home. Unfortunately, by the time the police arrived, the man had escaped.

Police are activity looking for the woman's attacker. He is described as a white man, approximately 25 years of age, slim build, brown, military style hair - the man is about 5'9" tall.

Anyone with information on this suspect is asked to phone the Gwinnett County Police Department.

Kudos to Purple - a fiercely loyal dog that effectively protected her owner from an extremely violent man.

Way to go, Purple! You're right, Ron, you never see anything good about Pit Bulls in the news but the media is gung-ho to jump on something bad.

I am not surprised this is not plastered all over the news. Give a pit bull GOOD press? Are you kidding me? This dog is a hero, and if this had of happened in Ontario, Canada, the dog would probably now be on death row for biting despite the fact it saved it's owners life. Why? BECAUSE it is a pit bull! I say obliterate BSL and give Purple a medal for doing what comes naturally and protecting her owner!

I couldn't of said it better myself. I am so sick of all the negative press the pitbulls get and then when (and there are a ton) of good pitbulls stories it's gets no press. Also, most of the "bad" pitbull stories the media usually identifies the dog as the wrong breed. Most people couldn't pick out a pitbull if it slapped them in the face. I had someone argue with me at Petsmart saying my 1yr old Boston terrier was a pitbull puppy because of her short muzzle.

Way to go Purple (love the name)

This has been plastered ALL OVER the news here in GA and we in animal welfare and advocacy are using this, spreading it, sharing it on FB. I encourage everyone to do the same!

Good job Purple!! Pit bulls are loyal like many other dogs. This just proves that they can spring into action when the need calls.

  • doesn't make sense 1 year ago

This rapist decided that at 1 pm in the afternoon, in broad daylight, it would be best to grab a woman who had a pit bull on a leash. He grabbed her from behind according to news reports and put the knife to her neck. He dragged her back into her house and brought the pit bull in with them. After specifically bringing the pit bull into the house with his victim, he didn't put the pit bull into another room or tie the leash to anything. He just allowed the pit bull to be free and watch him commence a weird molestation of the woman. Is this making any sense to anyone? this is a complete crock.

  • Penny Eims 1 year ago

@doesn't make sense - please read the story a bit more closely. The woman was walking her Beagle, not the Pit bull. Beagles scare off very few people.....

  • maxiemom 1 year ago

Isn't it time that GOOD things about pit bulls started making it into the press? It makes me sick to think that so many people think these dogs are monsters because all the media wants to focus on is dog attacks which are, in reality, caused by bad, sometimes vicious owners. A dog bite can come from ANY breed. If Purple had bitten someone for any other reason it would have been all over the news; however, because he did it to save his owner, the media doesn't want to cover it! When does the bigotry stop? They even color stories to make them the bogeyman when it's clear they weren't. This dog deserves a medal, and the local media outlets once again are failing in their duty through their own stupidity.
