Lakeville was host to the Lake Marion Triathlon on Sunday. There was an Olympic Distance race (1.5K swim, 40K bike, and 10K run) and a Sprint Distance race (0.25 mile swim, 17.3 mile bike, and 5K run). Over 100 people finished the Olympic race, and nearly 300 finished the Sprint.
In the Olympic race, Dennis Dane (Golden Valley) took the lead in the run, and used his 35:42 10K to pull away and win by over 3 minutes in 2:05:22. Kyle Serreyn (Lakeville) was 2nd in 2:08:26, and Brian Gorman (Minneapolis) was 3rd in 2:11:39.
On the female side, Cathy Yndestad (Apple Valley) found herself on top of the podium yet again. She finished 7th overall and as the 1st female (leading all females wire-to-wire) in 2:15:57. Olivia Bagnall (Lakeville) came in 2nd in 2:27:27, and Robyn Wangberg (Winona) was 3rd in 2:29:52.
In the Sprint race, Andy Wilberg (Eden Prairie) used his fastest bike and run splits of the day to win by nearly 7 minutes in 1:07:54. Joe Caturia (Hastings) was 2nd in 1:14:23, and Harvey Skees (Eden Prairie) was 3rd in 1:14:58.
The ladies had a tight race in the Sprint. Brenna Zavadsky (Shakopee) pulled into the lead on the bike, and held on for the win in 1:21:31. Right behind her was Joyce Bourassa (Lakeville) who was catching up to Zavadsky on the run, but ran out of space. Bourassa was 11 seconds out of first. And 3rd place was Bette Rowley (Bloomington) in 1:22:33.
