In a major speech today at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, shared his concern about news reports indicating that the Islamist terrorist organization ISIS may already be in the United States, gaining easy entrance through the porous and largely unprotected southern border. The Examiner reported Wednesday that a U.S. Congressman had disclosed in a news forum that there is significant evidence that the barbaric and alarmingly brutal terrorist group had gained entrance into the United States through the southern border and was engaging in dialogue with dangerous Mexican drug cartels.
While Gov. Perry stopped short of saying that he himself had seen any evidence that confirms the presence of ISIS in the United States, he stated that he believes that the group is now in the country based on a combination of factors that suggest ISIS may be working in tandem with the cartels to gain entrance into the United States. It is a confirmed fact that some of the most well-known and powerful drug cartels are now operating within the United States. This fact was confirmed when investigations into the Fast and Furious scandal uncovered alarming facts concerning the deliberate illegal transfer of U.S. firearms to Mexican criminals, compliments of the U.S. government.
The Obama administration and its main players such as the ATF, the U.S. Attorney's office in Arizona, the State Department under Hillary Clinton, and the Holder Justice Department all used the official line that the purpose of the scheme was to catch drug kingpins in Mexico by using lower level criminals to funnel U.S. guns to the cartels and then tracking the guns. But, as the story goes, a program that was intended as a sting operation went bad.
However, ATF whistleblowers told an entirely different story. The Obama administration wanted to use the guns-to-Mexican criminals scheme to bolster its false assertion that most of the violence in Mexico is committed by criminals who get their fire power from the United States. Therefore, the United States should pass severe gun restrictions. This mantra was used repeatedly by Obama, Holder, Hillary, and anti-gun Democrats such as U.S. Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif. But when a U.S. Border Patrol agent was shot with one of the guns the ATF had sent to Mexican drug cartels, things began to unravel. More whistleblowers came forward. The truth finally came out. The agency, under the direction of top level senior administration officials, had sent over 2,000 guns to Mexico in an attempt to manufacture "evidence" that the United States is to blame and therefore needs a massive overhaul and strengthening of its gun control laws.
During the numerous investigations into this scandal it was further discovered that the drug cartels who reaped a bounty of firearms from the U.S. government were now operating inside the United States. Evidence at crimes scenes in Phoenix, El Paso and Laredo, and as far away as Chicago, indicated a drug cartel connection. Some of the guns used by street gangs in major U.S. cities came directly from the cartels, which obtained these guns in the Fast and Furious scheme concocted and implemented by the Obama administration.
Thus, if Mexican drug cartels, human traffickers, and slave and sex trade organizations are already operating inside the United States, and if these organizations are in regular talks with ISIS, what is to prevent ISIS from gaining entrance into the country via the southern border as well?
It has already been demonstrated that a terrorist influence is present inside the cartels. Mass beheadings of Mexican citizens are but one sign. The cartels are also becoming just as notorious for the sex slave trade and human trafficking as they are illegal drugs. This is no accident. ISIS is well known in Iraq and Syria for each of the activities cited above. Thousands of Christians and Jews have been beheaded. The children of slain Christians and Jews are seized by ISIS to be used as sex slaves and to place them in the human trafficking network. Many have already noted that the Mexican drug cartels increasingly display the influence of Islamist terrorists.
Is it any wonder, then, that persons from across the political spectrum, from Rick Perry to Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel, from Congressman Ted Poe to U.S. Sen. John McCain, are sounding the alarm that Americans should get set for a new round of terrorist attacks? It is time, then, to close the southern border. Finish the fence. Double or triple it, and put barbed wire on top. And then place National Guard troops on the border with orders to shoot those who seek to gain entrance illegally in spite of repeated warnings.
