We are working daily, selling hourly, promoting minutely to establish a brand...yea, minutely. This is a lifestyle based on the goal to keep life simple, comfortable, and fashionable.
Dallas, Texas isn't just for cowboys. From the iconic Lonestar city emerges a brand bigger than Texas - Palmer Dean, founder and CEO of OutlineTheSky, has uncovered the need for a really great T-shirt. Color confusion and distracting logos have given the graphic T a bad rap. This Dallas native has discovered a market deficit and filled its gap with an innovative answer:
The concept came up because of a bar in Dallas called Katy Trail Icehouse. [I was] sitting in the bar, looking around at what seemed to be a bunch of visitors – based on their T-shirts they seemed to be visitors. So I thought: I need to do something for these people that is simple, reflects comfort and style and isn't a run-of-the-mill graphic T-shirt...
Thus, OutlineTheSky was born. In six months, this Texas T-shirt company has grown from an idea on an iPad, to a namesake. The brand was first marketed in the St. Bernard storefront in Dallas and has since built an eCommerce site via the Internet. Recently, the company teamed up with Jewelry designer Kendra Scott in a sold-out campaign targeting Dallas, Austin, and Houston. The yellow on grey, tri-blend T featured the Kendra Scott logo against the sketched city skyline. What was initially intended as a swag-bag giveaway has erupted into an overnight sensation - and buyers still can't get enough!
Aside from Dallas, what is your favorite American skyline?
Why wouldn't it be? Austin has long been known for her creative network and densely cultured, urban center. Artists, musicians, and T shirt companies are just a few of the Texas entrepreneurs carving a niche into Austin's fabric. OutlineTheSky is not the first company to pay homage to Austin's skyline, but they are a pioneer in the cultivation of their product. Rather than initiating a stampede across the nation, OutlineTheSky is targeting Texas favorites. Each city - Dallas, Austin, Ft. Worth, Houston - has a distinguishing skyline staple that OTS procures to a T.
When you drive into Ft. Worth on the 30, the backdrop before you is incredible. Every city should have that moment captured...I want to create a skyline that highlights iconic buildings in the city. If I can’t do that for each city then the idea is dead. It just doesn’t make sense.
In Austin, those buildings are the UT Clock tower and the Frost Bank Building. Dean states, "The more structure and features of the city that can be pulled together, the better. We will [see] more success from that."
OutlineTheSky is lending Texans (and Americans) the opportunity to bear their city's insignia on their chest - literally. Allegiance to your town - where you're from, where you grew up, or where you live - is a trend on the move. In a city such as Austin where Hari Mari flip-flops and T-shirts are an essential necessity, OutlineTheSky is a must-have wardrobe addition. The style is fresh, commemorative, and a new Austin Style favorite.
Austin is excited to welcome OutlineTheSky into the fashion fold; from iPad to must have, Palmer Dean and his T-shirt empire is not slowing down anytime soon.
