Originally-planned playable female character revealed for God of War: Ascension (Photos)

During the PAX 2012 Panel, Todd Papy revealed that he originally planned to include a playable female character in the upcoming Playstation 3 exclusive title, God of War: Ascension. You can check out the latest screenshots from the action-adventure video game in the slideshow at the top of this article and the details below.

When asked about the possibility of a “Goddess of War” video game, Todd Papy revealed that he was planning to introduce Artemis as a playable character in Ascension when the project first started. Similar to a centaur, the top-half of her character will be female while her bottom-half includes the features of a lioness. She would have offered different combat compared to the usual God of War action. Eventually, Artemis would be cut from God of War: Ascension as Todd Papy’s vision for the game narrowed. However, he also mentioned that he would like to explore other gods in the future.

God of War: Ascension will be released for the Playstation 3 in North America on March 12, 2013. You can pre-order the action-adventure video game in the following link: God of War: Ascension
