One phone call kills 15 dogs

Georgia, The new Macon-Bibb County Animal Welfare Department has been reorganized, Deborah Biggs, who worked in Nassau County, Florida, has become the interim animal welfare director.

The beginning of this month, Bibb County took over Macon’s no-kill animal shelter and with one phone call from Florida, Biggs gave the order to start euthanizing the animals.

The call ended a 10 week no-kill that Van VanDeWalker had put in place with the help of rescues in that area.

15 dogs were euthanized yesterday under Biggs orders; even though rescues had the animals under capacity.

In a Bibb County statement, Biggs indicated her experience as a troubleshooter could be an asset.

Rescues in the area are not finding this take over an asset for the animals.
