One Direction's cover version of Blondie's "One Way or Another" got an audio sneak preview on Amazon on February 3, 2013.
The 30-second clip indicates that the One Direction has put its signature pop sound on the remake, which will feature solos from the members of the group. One Direction also added shouts of "hey" on the song that Blondie's original version does not have.
One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. in 2010 and has since become the biggest worldwide act to emerge from "The X Factor."
As previously reported, One Direction's "One Way or Another" is a charity single for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day. The song became available as a pre-order on January 31, 2013, and goes on sale in the U.K. and other countries on February 17, 2013. The U.S. release date is February 18, 2013. The music video for the song should premiere on a date to be announced before the song goes on sale. One Direction is also scheduled to participate in Red Nose Day on March 15, 2013.
One Direction will perform "One Way or Another" at the 2013 Brit Awards, which will take place on February 20 at the O2 Arena in London. One Direction is nominated for two prizes at the ceremony: Best British Band and Best Brits Global Success.
As previously reported, One Direction filmed a performance of "One Way or Another" on January 19, 2013, during a Team 1D Japan party, an event for One Direction fans in Japan. At the Team 1D Japan party, One Direction also performed the group's hits "What Makes You Beautiful," "Live While We're Young," "Little Things" and "Kiss You."
Before going to Japan, One Direction was in Ghana to make a charity appearance for Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
In an interview that ITV1's "Daybreak" televised on January 31, 2013, One Direction talked a little bit about the trip to Ghana.
One Direction's Harry Styles said, "We all kind of went out there not really knowing what to expect. And then we all came back the whole time, all kind of looking at each other, just kind of going, "That was the best thing we ever done. It was amazing."
One Direction's Louis Tomlinson added, "I was very surprised, pleasantly, by the spirit of the people. They're just so smiley and everybody waves. I mean, if you walk down the street in London and wave to everyone, you're going to get looked at like you're a weirdo."
One Direction's Zayn Malik stated, "It kind of put things in perspective for me. In everyday life, we have problems that we think are so major. And then you go over there and you see people who are actually dealing with real problems and have to carry on every day and just keep going. So yeah, just a general sense of putting things into perspective for me."
Styles commented that One Direction was "very excited" about performing "One Way or Another" at the 2013 Brit Awards. One Direction's Liam Payne added, "We will be nervous."
