On January 19, 2013, One Direction did a sneak-preview performance of One Direction's remake of Blondie's "One Way or Another" in Tokyo at the Team 1D Japan Party, a special event held for One Direction fans in Japan.
As previously reported, One Direction did a cover version of "One Way or Another" as charity song for Comic Relief. One Direction's version of "One Way or Another" goes on sale on a February 2013 date to be announced. Pre-orders for the song begin on January 31, 2013.
Before going to Japan, One Direction was in Ghana to celebrate Comic Relief's Red Nose Day.
At the Team 1D Japan party, One Direction also performed the group's hits "What Makes You Beautiful," "Live While We're Young," "Little Things" and "Kiss You."
As reported exclusively first in this blog in November 2012, One Direction's Harry Styles, 18, has caused concern to his mother because of all the tattoos that he's gotten in a short period of time. (He reportedly got more than 30 tattoos in 2012 alone.) A One Direction insider says that One Direction's Styles and Zayn Malik, 20, are "addicted" to getting tattoos.
The Daily Star is now reporting that when Styles was in Japan, he wanted to get a tattoo of his name in Japanese, but he was talked out of it by his mother and sister. An unnamed source told the Daily Star: “Harry’s mum is worried his tattoo collection is getting out of hand. She thinks he’s getting addicted to sitting in the artist’s chair. She’s concerned about the lasting effects of the scribbles all over his body and thinks he could live to regret some of them."
"The X Factor" executive producer Simon Cowell, who helped create One Direction and signed One Direction to his Syco Music, has also expressed concern to Styles about Styles' rapid collection of tattoos. “Simon gave him some gentle advice suggesting he gives it a break for a while and reassess,” the source told the Daily Star.
One Direction has become the biggest act to emerge from "The X Factor," by having No. 1 hits and sold-out tours in several countries. (One Direction came in third place on "The X Factor" U.K. 2010.) The group's 2013 world tour officially begins on February 22 and will go to Europe, North America, Australia and New Zealand.
