A North Texas man is headed to the first class of the International Video Game Hall of Fame.
Ben Gold, a noted video gaming champion during the boom times of the video arcade, will be headed to Ottumwa, IA's induction ceremonies, taking place August 7.
Gold accomplished numerous arcade accolades in the early 1980s, including setting the one-time Stargate World Record in Richardson. Gold would go on to be part of the famed LIFE Magazine photo shoot on the streets of Ottumwa in November 1982, featuring champion video gamers, including others such as Billy Mitchell, Leo Daniels, and Steve Sanders. This photo would go on to be featured in numerous films and news clips to this day.
When "That's Incredible!" wanted to hold a video game championships in 1983, Gold finished in the top three qualifiers at the original Twin Galaxies video arcade in Ottumwa, and would head to California to win the final competition, aired on ABC, in a contest including now-classics such as Donkey Kong Junior and BurgerTime.
Gold also won a head-to-head with another gaming legend on Millipede, the frantic Centipede sequel, on the pilot of a television show entitled Video Game Challenge.
Among others to be inducted into the upcoming Hall of Fame ceremony include Mitchell, Steve Wiebe, Paul Dean, Nolan Bushnell, and many others.

It would be fun to get the 3 of the guys together again with the same games for a rematch.
