Oath Keepers welcome New Year with free viewing of ‘Molon Labe’

The public is invited to view the new documentary on militias and the right to keep and bear arms for free until January 6, a press release from Oath Keepers announced Monday.

Oath Keepers, regular readers of this column know, “is a non-partisan association of current and formerly serving military, reserves, National Guard, veterans, peace officers, and firefighters who will fulfill the Oath we swore.”

“The movie, ‘Molon Labe: How the Second Amendment Guarantees America's Freedom,’ is James [Jaeger’s] sixth in his series on Constitutional issues, and this one promises to be his most controversial ever,” the release promises. The title refers to the words attributed to Leonidas of Sparta at Thermopylae, when ordered by Persian invaders to surrender his weapons and he instead uttered the defiant reply “Come and take [them].”

The documentary, based on the works of Dr. Edwin Vieira Jr., includes interviews with national figures like Pat Buchanan, Ron Paul, Larry Pratt, and Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes, among others.

This film was the subject of a special report on production fundraising posted last February.

“As a special holiday gift, you can screen ‘Molon Labe’ for free,” the production company Matrix Entertainment’s website announces.

“We are still accepting donations to help with the initial marketing campaign,” they advise. “We also encourage you to get a DVD. DVD sales help us with the initial marketing campaign as well.

“If you can't afford a DVD or donation, please at least forward the URL of this site (and any emails pointing to it) to your list of family, friends and associates,” they request. “Together we can make ‘Molon Labe’ go viral. The mainstream media isn't going to lift a finger, so it's up to us.”

That’s indisputable, and the need for gun owners to not assume someone else is going to bear the entire load has been a subject this column has addressed time and again.
