Simpson, 66, has been photographed in recent court appearances very obese. The cookie stealing episode was fodder for the Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Leno made Simpson the target for a string of fat jokes.
Simpson was caught with more than a dozen oatmeal cookies.
A source told the National Enquirer: “O.J. just stood there with a goofy grin on his face as the guard kept digging inside his shirt and throwing the cookies on the floor.”
Simpson is serving a 33-year sentence for armed robbery. He was acquitted of murdering his ex-wife Nicole Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman but was found guilty of the crime in a civil court.

The Enquirer source added, “The temptation of the cookies in the prison chow line was too much for him.
Some of his fellow prisoners at first thought Simpson was smuggling a cell phone under his clothes.
“So when the guard started pulling cookies out of O.J.'s shirt, the other inmates started laughing so hard they nearly fell over,” said the source.
O. J Simpson gets away with warning
The guard who caught Simpson in the act of stealing the cookies let Simpson off with a warning instead of formally writing him up.
