Starting Monday, March 18, and going until Friday, March 22, David Farland is presenting his Novel Rewriting Workshop in Dallas at the Ramada Inn on LBJ Freeway.

What is the Novel Rewriting Workshop?

Farland’s Novel Rewriting Workshop is a week-long intensive class on how to edit and rewrite your novel to take it to the next level, the publishing level. This workshop will teach how to do triage editing, where to select scenes or story lines to add to the work, delete from the novel, or change dramatically. Attendees will also learn how to do line edits to improve the quality and clarity of their work, voice edits to make their narrator and characters sound consistent, and do syllabic edits to greatly increase the pacing of their novel, and so on.

Who is David Farland?

David Farland, aka David Wolverton, is an award-winning, New York Times bestselling author who has penned nearly fifty science fiction and fantasy novels for both adults and children. Along the way, he has also worked as the head judge for one of the world’s largest writing contests, as a creative writing instructor, as a videogame designer, as a screenwriter, and as a movie producer.

Farland is best known for his hit series The Runelords, The Golden Queen series, and his young adult fantasy Ravenspell series, and many more. Farland also has several books on writing: Million Dollar Outlines, Write That Novel, and his latest, Drawing on the Power of Resonance.

In England, Farland has been promoted as “The New King of Fantasy,” and in the U.S. his books have hit #1 positions on several bestseller lists, including the science fiction and fantasy bestseller lists for both the Walden’s and the Barnes and Noble bookstore chains. His series have continued to become bestsellers.

In 1999 Dave was invited to teach the science fiction and fantasy writing at Brigham Young University, and over the years he has taught dozens of writing seminars around the US and Canada and appeared at hundreds of conventions. Over the years, many of his students have gone on to publish with tremendous success, including New York Times Bestsellers like Stephanie Meyer (Twilight), Brandon Sanderson (The Mistborn Trilogy), Brandon Mull (Beyonders), Jessica Day George (Twelve Dancing Princesses), James Dashner (The Maze Runner Series), and Dan Wells (The Partials Series).
