According to CNN Money, on Sunday, Oct. 13, the stock market is doing business as usual on Monday Oct. 14, even though Columbus Day is one of the 10 Federal holidays in the nation. Stock markets will be open on Monday, though the bond markets are closed for Columbus Day. The Bond markets will resume Tuesday.
Many of the banks around the nation are closed today, but according to Bank Tracker, some banks are open on Columbus Day Monday 2013. Banks are not obliged to follow the Federal holiday closings, it is up to the individual banking institution if they want to open for business on a holiday.
