Last in the Nonstop Runway line up is Faride Ramos. While Ramos is a lesser known Colombian designer, she is someone you should get to know. Unlike many of the bigger names like Studio F, Faride Ramos' designs manage to stay fresh and innovative.
Fresh floral spring
This year's line at Colombia Moda showed a number of original yet beautiful and wearable designs. Her pieces are feminine yet striking with a wonderful sense of color and flow. Her floral pattern pieces are light and airy and evoke a feeling of spring while retaining a classic look. Despite the ruffles and flowing layers, the lack of added embellishments or external decorations give the designs a clean, simple look. The square neckline of the floral sundress gives a sharp edge to an otherwise soft delicate look. The peek-a-boo sides make you take a second look without revealing it all.
She knows how to create a sense of mystery and allure. Her sheers cover more than they reveal and just hint at a peek of skin. The use of volumous amounts of fabric to create soft folds and drape speaks to luxury and grace, elegance. Her clothes appeal to women of all ages; more skin for the younger more daring set, yet with the softness (and a slip) suitable for society matrons as well.
There is a richness to the collection as well. The chocolate brown pants for example, have such a deep sheen that makes you want to reach out and touch them. The crisp cotton pieces are in deep contrast to the other pieces. Instead of radiating softness, the very sharp, crispness of the pieces stands out.
Right now, Faride Ramos maintains one small shop in Bogota, Colombia on Carrera 13 but I predict that she won't remain small scale for long. Expect to hear more about this designer in the future.
