Nolet Silver Gin cocktails for The Kentucky Derby

See also

The Kentucky Derby is a race for three-year-old Thoroughbreds, held annually in Louisville, Kentucky at Churchill Downs on the first Saturday in May.

"The Run for the Roses” as it is know because of the blanket of roses draped over the winning horse. The Kentucky Derby is the first leg of the US Triple Crown, which is followed by the Preakness and the Belmont Stakes.

A horse must win all three races to win the Triple Crown. Which is one of the most difficult feats in sports. The last Triple Crown winner was ‘Affirmed’ in 1978.

The 2014 Kentucky Derby goes off on Saturday, May 3, and a big part of the festivities is finding that perfect cocktail to sip while cheering your favorite horse on to victory.

Nolet Silver Gin is currently in the hands of tenth generation owner Carolus Nolet, he is the current head of a company with over 300 years of crafting experience. What began in 1691 by founder Joannes Nolet in Schiedam Holland continues today in the same tradition of fine gin craftsmanship.

Nolet’s Silver Dry Gin is made with three distinctive botanicals: Turkish rose, white peach and raspberry. The Nolet Silver gin is not shy, the flavor introduces itself with a wave and a whistle, unlike most gins, which simply sit in your mouth and await an accompanying flavor to share the space. Nolet will make any gin cocktail better.

For a Kentucky Derby party everyone needs a couple of good cocktails to serve to their friends, and assuming you have a recipe for a Mint Julep, I recommend the below two recipes.
