No charges to be filed against Oklahoma teen's bow and arrow dog death

First Assistant District Attorney Jack Thorp announced on Thursday that no charges will be filed against Caisen Green, the Cookson teenager who posted on Facebook a disturbing photo of a dead dog lying in the grass with an arrow through his side.

According to the Tahlequa Daily Press, the D.A. stated there was no probable cause, and he was not able to disprove Green's claim that he was acting in self defense against the gray and white pit bull. Green claimed he was practicing archery when two dogs approached him. The pit bull allegedly "snarled" at him and attempted to attack when Green shot the dog with his bow and arrow.

Oklahoma law allows a person to defend themselves against an animal if the animal might attack or do bodily harm. Green told authorities his younger siblings were with him, and he was protecting the children also.

A Facebook page titled "Caisen Green of Cherokee County OK shoots dog w/ arrow 02/15/2013" was created as over 3,000 "likes" were able to express their outrage as Green posted on Facebook the following under the photo of the dead dog:

"For all you pit bull lovers out there. Here's what happens when one shows up around my house."

The creator of the page has decided to leave the page up in order to help bring awareness to future cases of animal cruelty and to continue the fight for those who can't speak.
