Just days after releasing a sassy new poster for Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters, the first movie based on Richelle Mead's hit YA series, The Weinstein Company has rolled out a new trailer. But here's the catch: only attendees at New York Comic Con have gotten to see the trailer.
The new trailer, which reportedly features a bounty of previously unseen footage, showed exclusively to audiences at NYCC this weekend, and is not yet available to watch online.
According to ComingSoon.net, the new trailer features some flashy pink-and-green on-screen text that coordinates with the newly-released poster. It seems the filmmakers are tapping into their Mean Girls roots with this latest promotion, and the new tagline "They Suck at School." (Get it? They're vampires!)
It's actually a smart tactic, considering how poorly some other recent YA movie adaptations have done in theaters with their serious and Twilight-esque melodrama (see Beautiful Creatures and City of Bones as two examples).
What do you think of the new marketing tactic filmmakers are using for Vampire Academy? Will you go see the movie?
Vampire Academy: Blood Sisters will be in theaters February 14th.
