New Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition screens feature spilt-screen co-op and more

Several new screenshots revealed by Microsoft for the upcoming title, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. The latest images take a look at various elements from the Xbox 360 port of the open-world sandbox building game. Multiple environments, creatures, in addition to the four-player split-screen cooperative mode were featured in the set. You can check out the new screenshots in the slideshow to the left of this article.

Minecraft was first released for the PC on November 18, 2011. The open-world sandbox building game was developed by Mojang, who has since moved on to worked on multiple projects including Catacomb Snatch, Cobalt, Scrolls and 0x10c. The Xbox 360 port is being handled by 4J Studios, a studio previously responsible for porting Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie and Perfect Dark to the Xbox Live Arcade.

The Xbox 360 version of Minecraft will include Kinect support and cross-platform play with the PC copy. It will be released in North America on May 9, 2012.
