New Mexico witnesses in Carrizozo reported watching and videotaping lights in a triangle formation and a second set of lights in a horizontal row that they could not identify, according to April 25, 2014, testimony in Case 55770 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.

The witnesses could not identify two sets of lights in the sky - one forming a triangle and the second in a horizontal formation.

The witness, his son and daughter-in-law were traveling east along NM 380 heading toward Carrizozo about 1:40 a.m. on April 21, 2014, when the lights in the triangle formation were first noticed.

"I didn't see them initially but was able to after we came around a bend and could see over the terrain," the reporting witness stated. "I pulled the car over to the side of the road and initially we were watching the lights from inside the car. I took a few pictures and then began making a video on my cell phone."

The witness described the two sets of lights.

"There were four lights initially that appeared much closer and much brighter than the stars or any ambient lighting. The lights seemed to descend slowly and also formed into a triangle shape. After a few minutes of observing these initial lights, a set of four more appeared. They were higher in elevation and also descended slowly."

The witness noted that his phone quite recording after about four minutes - and that there were aircraft in the same areas.

"We saw at least two that were in very close proximity to the lights. One flew 'between' the two sets of lights, and one flew towards the higher set, but then turned abruptly and reversed course."

The witness was intrigued with the sighting.

"Initially I thought that they may have been aircraft flares, but the movement into triangular shapes negates that thought to a degree. Flares that I am familiar with are free falling, parachute suspended, and unguided. It was interesting to watch them for as long as we did. Eventually we lost sight of them over the horizon and behind a hill on the side of the road, but none the less, very intriguing."
