New Florida logo: Is it sexist?

The new Florida logo is being called "sexist" by Tampa locals. On Feb. 5, WebPro News reported that Governor Rick Scott revealed the sunshine state’s first-ever business brand. The slogan is "The Perfect Climate for Business," and has a "man's tie" substituting the "i" in "Florida."

"Each day I talk with CEOs around the world to tell them that Florida is the best place to do business. Our unemployment rate is at a four year low," said Rick Scott. However, people aren't looking at the logo as something "positive" as he seems to be. Many think that the new logo and slogan are sexist.

The new Florida logo is meant to highlight the state for both its good weather -- and the good work environment. The logo and slogan capitalizes on the word "climate" in both the weather and business sense. Overall, Florida has a great "climate" which is what Rick Scott is trying to get across.

"The Tampa Bay Tribune received complaints from several locals who claim the necktie implies Florida business is for males. According to the tribune, the EFI considered whether the necktie could be considered sexist, but decided that the tie is a 'universal symbol of business,'" WebPro News reported.

Do you like the new Florida logo? Do you think its sexist?
