A new NWA Eastern States Heavyweight Champion was crowned at the NWA World-Wide Wrestling "StarCade" event on Saturday when The Human Predator defeated Lou Marconi in a steel cage. The two have been battling over the title most of the year and promoter Johnny Lightning put them in a cage to avoid outside interference.
"Predator got lucky tonight that's all it was. He won't have the title for long you can count on that," Marconi said. "Or maybe I will just go after the National title since Nitro stuck his nose in my business tonight."
The National Heavyweight Champion Nitro defeated Solomon Spades on the show in a successful defense of his title only to be attacked by Marconi at the conclusion of the match.
"Marconi is a punk straight up. I called him out as a punk and he showed that is exactly what he is when he sucker punched me," Nitro said. "Who left as champion and who is the punk Marconi?"
The NWA World-Wide Wrestling Tag Team Championship, which had been vacant, saw the Super Japanese Machines with manager Earl Harbor defeat the Lords of K.A.O.S Damien Wayne and Lance Erickson with help from Harbor. Wayne and Erickson are the top contenders for the NWA World Tag Team Championship currently held by NWA World Champion Rob Conway and Jax Dane.
"StarCade" had long been an NWA staple but has been dormant for years until Lightning received the blessing of current NWA President R. Bruce Tharpe to resurrect the event.
"We want to bring back what made the NWA such a powerhouse," Lightning said. "StarCade was always one of my favorite events and I am glad that we were able to bring it to the fans again.
Lightning opened the show by informing members of The Fold, Cueball Carmichael and Pat Cusick that even though their one year suspension from the NWA by Tharpe had been rescinded, they were still suspended from NWA WWW for six months. Carmichael and Cusick were suspended by Tharpe after an incident at an earlier show where Carmichael shoved Tharpe That suspension was later repealed by Tharpe after an impassioned plea from Carmichael.
"Let me tell you this, you can suspend The Fold, you can suspend me and Cusick but somehow, somewhere at sometime we will be there and when we are, there will be pain," Carmichael said.
Other matches on the card included Corey Duncum defeat T-Roy and Mark James (with the help of 50 Marines) defeat Great Akuma.
NWA World-Wide Wrestling will return to Rocky Point, NC on Februray 8, 2014.
