Nemo blizzard: NOAA predicts massive snowfall totals in Northeast (Photos)

Wondering what the snowfall totals will be when the Nemo blizzard hits the Northeast on Feb. 8, 2013?

The National Weather Service (NOAA) has released its most updated forecast and snowfall total predictions for Friday, with blizzard warnings in effect from coastal Maine to northern New Jersey, including Portland, Maine, Boston, Hartford, Providence, to the New York City metro area and Long Island.

According to NOAA, the blizzard conditions will start late in the day on Friday, stating that "a major winter storm, with blizzard conditions, is forecast to impact the Northeast Friday night into early Saturday, ...total snowfall accumulations of 1-2 feet are possible, with locally higher amounts."

Plows and trucks are ready to go and thousands of schools in the Northeast have been canceled. Airlines have canceled more than 2,700 flights across the region and many businesses are closing early on Friday so their employees can make it home safely.

According to Weather.com, the hardest hit areas, with a minimum of one foot of snow expected, will be Boston, Hartford, Providence, Upstate New York, Portland, and Concord, N.H.

"When the storm winds down, the heaviest snow totals by early Sunday morning are expected in New England from coastal Maine to Connecticut, as well as parts of Upstate New York, where one to two feet of snow is expected! Some locations, particularly in coastal New England, may approach, or even exceed three feet storm total snow." - Weather.com
