Ne-Yo is talking about moving into the judging chair for the next season of The X Factor. The entertainer who has had some success on the charts is looking at the gig as an opportunity to help his career further and help other looking to help other artists find their niche. With L.A. Reid and Britney Spears both rumored to be gone there appears to be an opening which needs to be filled. On Thursday The Grape Juice interviewed Ne-Yo and he let it slip that he’s being courted for the upcoming job.
“There’ve been a few conversations, but nothing is set in stone. There’s been a few lunches and dinners (laughs) but that’s all I can say right now,” said Ne-Yo on possibly filling the judges chair on X Factor.
While some Ne-Yo fans are delighted about the possibility, the fans of X Factor are far more leery. Comparing his career to Britney Spears or L.A. Reid, that’s definitely would be a step down for the judging table in the next season. Not as successful as either star he would replacing, he will need to convince fans that his opinions would be relevant to the music business. Would people tune in to hear Ne-Yo critique an audition? Well, that is a question the producers of the show need to be asking.
