2K Sports released a new developer diary Wednesday evening for NBA 2K14. This newest video covers all the gameplay improvements coming to this year's edition of the PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC basketball sim with special emphasis on the action in the paint.
Senior Producer Rob Jones, Lead Gameplay Designer Mike Wang and others cover what's new with NBA 2K14 by describing it as a "fully upgraded game" and not a slight incremental upgrade that some were expecting due to the release of next-gen consoles. This includes better AI when it comes to spacing on the floor and increased difficulty when it comes to driving to the rim compared to NBA 2K13.
As such, the blocking system was rewritten to create more contact in the paint and give the player the best possible block attempt depending on what the offensive player is doing and where the ball is at that point in the play.
NBA 2K14 hits the hardwood on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on Oct. 1 with the PS4 release coming Nov. 15 and the Xbox One on Nov. 22. Pre-orders come with the "King James Pack" that includes bonus content for the Lebron: Path to Greatness mode, Lebron James unlocked for the Blacktop Mode, a Lebron James signature skill and 10,000 virtual currency to use in the game.
