Navitat Canopy Adventures opens March 23 for the new season

Navitat Canopy Adventures, a high-adventure zip line canopy tour just minutes from downtown Asheville, launches the 2013 season on March 23.

Consistently called one of the best zip line canopy tours in the nation, Navitat is a fully guided, 100-percent tree based tour that showcases the beauty of North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. The course includes two sky bridges, two rappels, three short hikes and 10 exhilarating zip lines - including one that soars more than 200 feet above the forest floor, and some that reach speeds up to 40 mph.

"We're so excited to be returning for our fourth season and looking forward to another great year of high-flying fun in the trees," said Abby Burt, Branding & Marketing Leader at Navitat. "We're also working very hard this year, building a brand-new tour for 2014 that will be unlike any other zip line adventure in the country."

Construction begins this spring on the new mountaintop-to-mountaintop zip experience. With zip lines between 2,000 and 3,500 feet in length and at heights of more than 400 feet, the tour will provide mouth-gaping 360-degree views of the surrounding Black Mountains, Craggy Mountains, Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forest.

"This is a massive project, and when it's complete it will be a massive new experience for our guests. We can't wait," Burt said.

Navitat Canopy Adventures specializes in high-adventure zip line canopy tours, with a heavy focus on educating guests about the natural environment, history and culture of the surrounding area. With locations in Western North Carolina and Southern California, Navitat has been featured on CNN, “Conan” and in Outdoors magazine, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times and USA TODAY.

Tours run daily from March 23 through the end of November. Reservations are required. Tour price is $89 per person on weekdays and $99 on weekends. Visit www.navitat.com or call 1-855-NAVITAT (855-628-4828) to book your tour.
