The nail trends for the fall of 2013 are simple and basic; neutral nail colors and negative space designs, with pointed tips making a huge comeback.
The 2013 Emmys red carpet and CoverGirl’s Manicam proved nail fashion is the must-have accessory for any event. The nail trends that emerged from the Emmy Awards can be seen in the slide show and include neutral colors and negative space designs (having a natural or bare area of nail exposed somewhere between or within the polished area instead of a two-toned manicure).
Fear not lovers of nail glam; the nail trend hasn’t subsided. Fun and creative designs show no signs of slowing down. In fact, nail fashionistas have discovered new and ingenious ways to decorate the fingers with gems, bows and an array of matte and gloss shades.
Pointed nails are gaining in popularity and replacing their square-shaped counterparts. While certain shapes may be the current nail trend, they don’t always compliment individual hands. A true nail technician educated in the fine art of nail design understands this, and will encourage a guest to shape the nails according to the client’s nail bed. However, the customer is always right, and should receive what they want, even if it is against the professional’s better judgment.
