Nadya Suleman, also known as "Octomom" -- and the mother of 14, total -- is again on state assistance, also known as welfare, according to her rep's statement on Monday. Suleman became famous when she gave birth to octuplets in 2009, but became infamous when it was revealed that she already had six children from earlier IVF implantations was unemployed and on public assistance programs.
Suleman’s rep, Gina Rodriguez, said on Monday that Suleman has once again sought out “state assistance for a brief period of time.” The reason given was that she had exhausted her savings during her recent stint in rehab.
She spent most of her savings while she was in Chapman Treatment center, paying for around-the-clock nannies, drivers, security and her treatment program. She does not expect to be on [welfare] longer than three months.
Suleman had exited welfare five months ago, but her bank account was quickly depleted after she entered rehab in October for what was her rep said was “anxiety, exhaustion and stress."
At the time, Rodriguez told ABC News:
She was prescribed Xanax for her anxiety attacks. She was not addicted to it. She has an overabundance of stress and exhaustion and wanted to deal with it without prescription drugs.
However, also at the same time, Michael Lohan took credit for Octomom entering rehab, saying:
The most important thing is the willingness to realize and surrender to the issue and commit to getting help, which Nadya did.
If it wasn’t for her manager Gina, my good friend, Tim Chapman at the Chapman house / Teen savers and Gina's daughter, this would not have been possible. They deserve a lot of credit!
Lohan said that, unknown to many, he has been running a non-profit organization based out of Florida for the past several months. It stages interventions for people in need of substance abuse treatment, and Lohan claimed at the time of Suleman's rehab that he has already performed over 25.
It's unclear how the 37-year-old has been making money, but she did star in a solo porn film, which is up for four AVN Awards. That adult film industry awards show takes place on Jan. 19, in Las Vegas.
