Enraged by what they view as a direct assault on their Constitutional rights by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., and the Democrat-controlled state legislature, gun owners across New York State vow to defy the new state-wide gun bans, registration, and gun control laws in a massive demonstration of civil disobedience.
According to the New York Post, organizers of the resistance movement estimate that tens of thousands of citizens will join the move to defy the new laws. At least one million New Yorkers own so-called "assault weapons," which are actually nothing more than semiautomatic guns that use large capacity magazines.
Military style weapons such as machine guns are already illegal in every state, a fact which belies the standard line of anti-gun advocates who erroneously claim that they only want to make illegal the military style weapons and machine guns.
Curiously, pro-gun groups were silent when Gov. Cuomo and the state legislature planned their attack on the Second Amendment, passing the most restrictive gun control laws in the entire nation. As reported by the Examiner Sunday, state Democrats were secretly planning much more stringent gun control measures, such as gun confiscation, until Republicans pushed back and stopped the move.
Democrats had hoped to keep their plans secret, but a Republican legislator released the secret plan to the public Sunday with the hope that citizens would then understand the real end game and hidden motives of those who wish to pass new gun control laws.
The reason for the silence of the gun rights activists while this sordid scheme was taking place is unknown. Many activists in other states, however, are using the inaction of New Yorkers as a stark warning of what will happen when patriots fail to exercise due vigilance when it comes to their Constitutional rights.
Now, the new restrictions are approved and signed into law by Gov. Cuomo, and gun owners are having to scramble to protest and defy the unconstitutional assault on their Second Amendment rights.
The gun owners say that they will simply refuse to register any firearm with the state. And given that the state has no idea who owns "assault weapons," state government officials will have no idea who is breaking the new law if citizens en mass refuse to register.
