MSNBC's O'Donnell attacks Bill O'Reilly, Fox News, Fox viewers

In his quest to be known as the face of hate at MSNBC - the network of insane liberal hate - Lawrence O'Donnell attacked Fox News, Bill O'Reilly, and those who watch Fox News in a way that can only be described as childish.

In an apparent attempt to boost his ratings - down 45 percent since he took over the 8 pm slot at MSNBC - O'Donnell decided to insult Irish people as well as Bill O'Reilly.  According to Newsbusters' Noel Sheppard, O'Donnell said:

Here is what I see when I look at Bill O'Reilly: A very, very, very rich man who has grown phenomenally rich by playing a character on TV that the most gullible audience in the history of television falls for. When I look at O'Reilly, I also see dozens of guys I grew up with who were just like him. Overbearing, argumentative, Irish guys who think they know everything and can back up nothing. Those guys have always been a joke to me, which is why O’Reilly almost never has the capacity to outrage me, because he is just a joke to me most of the time. But when he blares homicidal encouragement for killing physicians who perform abortions, he deserves all the serious-minded condemnation he has received for that much of it eloquently delivered through microphones of this network.

The only thing O'Donnell did not do was present a Nazi salute, as his predecessor Keith Olbermann did.  Maybe O'Donnell will do that in an upcoming program.

O'Donnell seems to spend a lot of time attacking a man he considers a joke, but he wasn't finished:
O'DONNELL: But most of what O’Reilly does day in and day out deserves nothing more than to be laughed at, which is how Saturday Night Live treated him this weekend. What else can you do with someone who says he knows of no other explanation of why the tides go in and out, and then when told it has a little something to do with the moon thinks he can stump you with this question?

(BEGIN VIDEOTAPE)

BILL O’REILLY: How did the moon get there? How'd it get there? How’d it get there? How’d it get there? How'd the sun get there? How'd it get there? C’mon. How did it get there? Who put it there?

(END VIDEOTAPE)

O’DONNELL: He believes he can ask an utterly idiotic question like that and intimidate you, simply by using his faux Irish tough guy style. Billy Boy, I know real Irish tough guys. They don't look and sound like you. And none of them come from Long Island like you. And none of them go to work in makeup like you. Anybody who knows real tough isn't fooled by your act, Bill.

Sheppard compared O'Donnell's screed to playground goading and asked, "Is this the way a professional television commentator behaves in 2011?"

The answer is no, but it does seem to be the way commentators at MSNBC behave.  This is the network where hosts get a laugh over electrocuting Glenn Beck, and the same network that hosts Chris Matthews, a man once called a "sexist" bully over his smears of Michelle Bachmann.

But imagine, for a moment, the outrage that would ensue from far-left smear sites if these kinds of ethnic attacks came from well-known conservatives like Rush Limbaugh or Sean Hannity.

This, apparently, is NBC's strategy for shoring up the ratings of MSNBC - attack Fox News, attack Fox viewers, bash Glenn Beck, and continue to spew unhinged liberal hate - a strategy Sheppard calls "pathetic."

How well has this worked so far?  Sheppard writes that "all of MSNBC's extended prime time shows have seen their numbers collapse in recent weeks."

According to Sheppard, O'Donnell garnered over 1.5 million viewers when he started in his new time slot, but by last Thursday, that had dropped to 843,000.

The thing that gets me about MSNBC (and I think others get it too for the most part) is that 50% of what you watch is the bashing of FNC. I mean, if you want news, you can watch FNC without the bashing for the most part. FNC has never wasted their time on this but MSNBC has just trashed that network to the point of their own viewers changing the channel. I know this to be true because I use to watch KO in 2006 and I switched because he couldn't stop talking about FNC. Thanks MSNBC! You turned me into a conservative.
Also, this O'Donnell guy is a mess. My dad watches him and he's brainwashed by this loser broadcaster. It's like watching Junior High Schoolers just talk s*** because they get no street cred.

What the hell was so hate filled about what O'Donnell said?
    It seemed quite reasonable

Watching either FNC or MSNBC for news is really a waste of time. Both offer commentary and much opinion that supports their own politics. Watch BBC or even CNN for news and leave the name calling and extreme opinion to FNC /msnbc.

To vote in this country you MUST be a U.S. citizen!!
not just a person having a drivers license. How many people are voting in this country who are not U.S.
citizens? This goverment wants to give our American rights to any one for a vote. My thought with the way our goverment wants to over tax us and have us support the illegals has to stop. Maybe Americans should stop paying taxes, then what? Let all the illegals support the American people for awhile wev'e been doing it for way to long. Goverment has the power and responsibilities of putting the American
    people FIRST.

I'm surprised even the small audience that they have isn't complaining. You tune in for news, I believe, and instead you get the never-ending FNC rants.
I guess I shouldn't be shocked about this. I have to shake my head once in awhile at the insanity of the left.
I will never understand how so many people just accept the sunshine getting blown up their collective butts.

Lawrence O'Donnell hit the nail on the head as Fox viewers are the most disinformed people on the planet. That is because Fox does not present news. Fox is simply an opinion pushing network. That is why it is a magnet for opinion pushing bigots who have no personal or journalistic integrity like Beck, Limbaugh, O Reilly, Hannity, Palin, O Donnell, Coulter and others like them.

There was no hate. What O'Donnell said was correct.
