Mr. T to be inducted into WWE HOF, Rumors of possible Scott Hall induction

During the mid-80's, Mr. T was an integral part in the WWE's, then known as the WWF, success. He helped the WWE reach mainstream popularity and participated in one of the most memorable matches of all-time. Mr. T teamed up with Hulk Hogan in the main event of the first WrestleMania to defeat Paul Orndorff and "Rowdy" Roddy Piper. Nearly three decades later, the WWE is honoring Mr. T's contributions. According to a March 17 report by WrestlingInc.com, the WWE officially stated that Mr. T will be inducted into the WWE HOF as a member of the 2014 class.

In that same report, Vince McMahon made the following comments about Mr. T's induction:

WWE is honored to have Mr. T join the WWE Hall of Fame. His WWE appearances were instrumental in helping to establish WrestleMania as the pop-culture phenomenon it is today."

Mr. T also participated in WrestleMania 2 as he continued his feud with Roddy Piper in a boxing match. Over the years, Piper had expressed a disliking of working with Mr. T. Piper made the following comments about T's induction via his Twitter page:

"When Roddy Piper heard Mr.T is going into the WWE's Hall of Fame last night, THE EARTH STARTED SHAKING!"

Some fans might be asking why it took so long for the WWE to induct Mr. T into the HOF. It appears that Mr. T had previously turned down offers of induction because he was frustrated over WWE's decision to induct Pete Rose before him. In a 2009 interview with The Mirror, a leading news source of the UK, Mr. T made the following comments about why he's not in the WWE HOF:

"WWE asked me to be in the Hall of Fame and I turned it down. You know why? They put Pete Rose in the wrestling Hall of Fame. This guy can't even get into his own Hall of Fame. After they put Rose in they came and asked me and I said "You don't insult me! You don't put Pete Rose in the Hall of Fame before me! I ain’t going to be a part of that."

It's clear that Mr. T's frustrations have subsided. Expectations are that Hulk Hogan will be the one inducting Mr. T into the HOF. WWE fans will be able to watch the HOF inductions live on the WWE Network on Saturday, April 5. Other members of the 2014 WWE HOF class are:

  • The Ultimate Warrior
  • Jake 'The Snake' Roberts
  • Lita
  • Paul Bearer
  • Carlos Colon

Mr. T is the sixth inductee for the 2014 class. However, there's still a possibility of one more induction. For the last few weeks, there have been rumors that Scott Hall will be inducted this year. Although there has been no official confirmation from the WWE or Scott Hall, many sources like The Wrestling Observer have reported this possibility.

Do you think that the WWE should induct Scott Hall into the HOF?
