Most and least Bible-minded cities in America

On January 24, The Barna Group released a study they conducted on the most and least Bible-minded cities in America. They interviewed 42,855 people nationwide to help them determine their results:

“Individuals who report reading the Bible in a typical week and who strongly assert the Bible is accurate in the principles it teaches are considered to be Bible-minded.”

Knoxville, TN, Shreveport, LA, and Chattanooga, TN tied for the most biblical city in the nation with 52%. Providence, RI won the least biblical city with 9%.

“The rankings reflect an overall openness or resistance to the Bible.”

Surprisingly the most biblical cities only scored 52%. That is just a little over half the people in those cities would be considered “open” to the Bible and conversely, 48% would be resistance to the Bible.

“The least sanguine way to analyze the results would be to emphasize the lack of Bible-mindedness in America; in 91 out of 96 markets a majority of the residents are not Bible minded.”

The study was commissioned by the American Bible Society. Find out how biblical your city is HERE.
