Lady Gaga is back in top form following a 25-pound weight loss.
The 5-foot-1 Gaga, who usually follows a strict diet and works out obsessively, made headlines after gaining 25 pounds last summer binge-eating pizza and pasta at her parents' NYC restaurant.
“I’m dieting right now because I gained 25 pounds,” Gaga admitted in September 2012. “And I really don’t feel bad about [the weight gain], not even for a second, because I have to be on such a strict diet constantly."
While Gaga wasn't bothered by her weight gain, she was called out by the media over her fuller figure, prompting the petite singer to hit back at critics via Twitter.
To all the girls that think you're ugly because you're not a size 0, you're the beautiful one. It's society who's ugly."
Gaga also revealed on her blog that she battled bulimia for over 10 years, and encouraged fans to embrace their bodies without judgment. "[I've had] bulimia and anorexia since I was 15," she wrote. "My weight loss/gain since I was child has tormented me."
Gaga, born Stefani Germanotta, finally overcame bulimia after realizing the constant vomiting was damaging her voice. "I had to stop. The acid on your vocal chords — it's very bad," she said. "It's very dangerous."
Gaga underscored that young girls need to value themselves and not get caught up in self-destructive cycles of crash-dieting and self-loathing. The pop icon said she has finally learned to love herself, flaws and all. "This is who I am," she wrote. "And I am proud at any size."
But just because she doesn't let her weight dictate her happiness doesn't mean she doesn't diet and exercise. Gaga follows a portion-controlled diet and does yoga, strength-trains and runs.
"I've got to work out every day, and I work out hung over if I am hung over," she said. "And it's about the cross-training and keeping yourself inspired. I have to say, I do a ton of yoga."
