Local entrepreneurs and hospitality experts Bill Kraus and Steve Newton will be opening up their 8th MISSION BBQ in Columbia, Maryland located in Howard County where they call home. Since I last covered their MISSION BBQ opening in Canton Maryland they have opened up two more locations further south in Richmond, Virginia and Wilmington, North Carolina.

So many choices for you on BBQ and what regions’ cue you like-there is something for everyone’s taste. Back by popular demand is the 9 ounce smoked brisket burger, beer soaked–bbq smoked still in the husk corn on the cob and a taste of home banana pudding. Now Howard County can experience traditional favorites done the MISSION BBQ way, such as Texas Inspired Beef Brisket; Jalapeño and Cheese Sausage; and MISSION’S own North Carolina Pulled Pork Sandwiches accompanied by an array of homemade secret sauces.

Preview dinners, invitation only, for our local warriors; Howard County fire and police staff were held last week. Another preview evening was held benefitting the Wounded Warrior Project. Each MISSION BBQ location supports and donates proceeds to the local police, fire, and first responder charities in each of their communities, in addition to numerous military charities, including Wounded Warrior Project, USO, Toys for Tots, and the Honor Flight Network

The ribbon cutting is Monday, July 14th right after the daily playing of the National Anthem at noon and MISSION BBQ – Columbia Maryland is officially open. The opening of the Columbia, MD restaurant is part of MISSION BBQ’s expansion plans, with a targeted goal of 40 restaurants throughout the East Coast by 2018. MISSION BBQ currently has restaurants in four states: Maryland, Virginia, Pennslyvania and North Carolina.
