A prized show dog, who disappeared on April 17 from Purina Farms in Gray Summit, Mo., has been found and reunited with his worried guardians.
The good news was posted on Wednesday morning to the Lost Sheltie, DRAKE Facebook page where search efforts were being documented and coordinated. The post read:
I don't have a lot of details to share yet since this has just happened, but Sue said a lady called to say she saw Drake in the median of the highway eating a dead animal. She was able to catch him (not sure how!!) and get him in her car. She took him to the vet clinic and called Sue. They rushed over there and for sure it's him! He's covered in ticks and has a slight fever, but otherwise is in good shape. The photo I just posted was the moment they were reunited! His eye looks yucky in the photo, but they assured me his eye is fine (perhaps its just a tick). This has become the most wonderful day!
With special thanks given to Drake's rescuer, Stacy Ray-Dames.
Drake, a tri-color Shetland sheepdog, had been at the National Championship Sheltie Show when he escaped from an enclosure. His owner, Sue Worsham, and his handler, Mendy Gleason as well as several friends had tirelessly worked to find him since the mid-April disappearance.
