For so many years Americans have enjoyed watching the “Miss America Pageant”. As everyone knows Atlantic City was the place where it all started. In 1921 Atlantic City sponsored a pageant to draw visitors from all over to their resort area.
In news story from the Press Of Atlantic City on September 2 acknowledges that the “Miss America Pageant” will be returning to its city of origin. There will be 53 contestants from 50 states as well as Washing, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico arriving to compete in anticipation of who will be crowned the new “Miss America”.
The pageant will last thirteen days beginning on September 2 followed by three days of preliminary competitions scheduled for September 10, 11 and 12. On September 14, another special pageant date will commence providing a parade on the Boardwalk called the “Show Us Your Shoe Parade”.
The final event that everyone is waiting for will be held on September 15. The pageant will be broadcasted from Boardwalk Hall on ABC. The last pageant was held in 2004 in Atlantic City. This beautiful event has been delegated to other cities since them to defer production and labor costs.
Americans are overwhelmed to hear the news that the pageant will be returning to Atlantic City and their contract at Boardwalk Hall was approved. Tradition returns to the city where pageant contestants can compete once again for the title of “Miss America” which is just as American as “apple pie”.
