Miss America contestants visit Las Vegas Fashion Mall

Contestants in the Miss America Pageant converged on the Fashion Mall on Saturday to visit some of the most-prestigious clothiers available in one spot.

Among stores located at the Fashion Mall are Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue, Macy's, Dillard's, Bloomingdale's Home and Nordstrom.

This is the eighth year in a row that the contestants walked the runway at the mall.

"This year, the contestants were decked out in beautiful designs that reflected their individual personality and style," according to Sharon Pierce of the Miss America Organization. "The Miss America contestants stepped out in style on to the clear, Plexiglas, 80-foot-long retractable runway that featured each of the contestants on multimedia screens playing. Following the show, there was a meet-and-greet session where the contestants signed autographs and photos for the public."

The Master of Ceremonies for the event was Miss America Organization Board of Directors member Lynn Hackerman Weidner, who reigned as Miss New Jersey 1971.

Competition in the Miss America pageant begins Jan. 8. After several days of preliminary competition, Miss America 2013 will be crowned on Jan. 12. The final night of competition will be televised live at 9 a.m. ET on the ABC television network.

The pageant is at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino. For tickets to attend the live event, call Ticketmaster at (877) 307-8667 or visit www.ticketmaster.com.
