Many seasons ago, we were introduced to a young designer who brought dedication, energy and drive to the fashion world and has been going strong ever since. Misha Nonoo continues to excel in an industry ripe with competition.
After interviewing this up and coming designer in the acceleration of her career, it was so rewarding to see her walk the Red Carpet this past Monday evening, June 2, 2014, in New York City as she attended the Annual CFDA Fashion Awards held at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. As a tribute to the beauty of her designs supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio was standing close in a Nonoo romance rouge gown signifying a sense of empowerment. This strapless hammered silk draped crossover detail gown was one of the pieces from Misha Nonoo's Spring/Summer 2014 Collection.
The designer herself holds the CFDA Awards close to her heart. She was a finalist for the 2013 highly influential CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Award. Now in 2014, Nonoo is part of the esteemed group of 2014-2016 chosen designers for the CFDA Fashion Incubator Program which will foster her growth in the design world over the next couple of years, giving her the support she needs to reach her full potential and assisting Misha in becoming an integral part of the New York fashion community.
With a very culturally diverse background having been born in Bahrain and raised by an Iraqi father and English mother and growing up in London, Misha Nonoo developed an appreciation for design and fashion at an early age. Her designs consistently take root in her rich cultural heritage. Her pieces are sometimes tailored and always glamorous. With an admiration for the style of Grace Kelly and the rock-and-roll nature of Kate Moss, Nonoo lets her creative juices flow.
Misha has gone from designing coats to designing an eveningwear collection with the fabric and interiors House of Gournay. This was a wonderful collaboration as Nonoo also has an interest in interior design and has expanded further into eveningwear.
The Nonoo brand can be found at such classic retailers as Neiman Marcus and Bergdorf Goodman. Pieces from her various collections can be seen regularly on celebrities like Allison Williams, Sarah Jessica Parker, Gwyneth Paltrow and even Pippa Middleton. Nonoo's designs are frequently featured on the pages of such global publications as Harper's Bazaar and InStyle Magazine.
Design is Misha's passion as well as an integral part of her life and Misha Nonoo has had incredible success in large part to the hard work that she puts into her career. Ironically, she is inspired by others with a unique style, however, Misha herself is an inspiration to those who have drive to pursue their dreams.
