Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition continues to be the most monstrous selling Xbox LIVE Arcade game yet as 4J Studios confirmed Sunday that the sandbox world building title surpassed 4 million in sales. The studio also gave an update for the release of 1.8.2.

4 million Minecraft copies sold on Xbox 360 means a ton of dough for 4J Studios, Mojang and Microsoft.

"Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has passed 4 million sales!" 4J Studios exclaimed on its Twitter account. "Incredible number, thanks to you all!"

Incredible indeed as Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has broke all sorts of Xbox LIVE Arcade records to become the best selling title in the online service's 7-year history. The game has sat only behind Call of Duty: Black Ops as the most played titled on Xbox LIVE since its release which is unprecedented for a downloadable title.

4J Studios is currently working on the 1.8.2 update for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition which adds Creative Mode along with new features like Strongholds, Abandoned Mineshafts, new food, the hunger mechanic and much more.

The last information that 4J Studios gave on the update was that it would be sent to Microsoft Certification early next week.

"We're finishing off bug fixes for the 1.8.2 update now," the studio wrote. "Should be able to get it into MS Cert Test early this coming week."

It typically takes a week or two for updates to get released once sent to Microsoft to be certified.
