The "Minecraft PS4 Edition," "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" and "Minecraft Vita Edition" release dates could be delayed once again. According to a report from The Fuse Joplin on July 30, a recent television advertisement showed that the handheld version won't be coming out until Sept. of this year. Mojang previously announced an Aug. launch month for all three upcoming ports.

The company responsible for the ports, 4J Studios, has remained somewhat quiet recently over the progress of the PS4, Xbox One and Vita games. Although the development team is prioritizing the new ports, the same group is also responsible for updating "Minecraft PS3 Edition" and "Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition" with new DLC packs and title update patches. Most of the same expansions and updates should be included in the upcoming console versions as well.

4J Studios may need some extra development team due to the new features being added to "Minecraft PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft Xbox One Edition." Both next-generation console games are going to feature a higher native resolution along with longer draw distances. The world sizes also got increased by 32 times when compared to the PS3, Xbox 360 and Vita games. Finally, the development team is also implemented a feature that will allow players to import their saves from the Xbox 360 to the Xbox One as well as the PS3 and Vita to the PS4.

"Minecraft Vita Edition" could also pose some challenges. Sony Computer Entertainment previously revealed that the handheld version is going to provide the same current-generation console experience as the PS3 and Xbox 360. With the Vita not being as powerful as the other two, squeezing the open-world sandbox game could be problematic.

"Minecraft PS4 Edition" and "Minecraft Xbox One Edition" were both initially set to be launch window games for the two next-generation consoles that were released late last year. So another delay should not be surprising as the projects have already been pushed back multiple times.
