After taking time off of developing editions of Minecraft on next-generation consoles in order to focus their efforts on releasing the PS3 edition of the game late last year, 4J Studios is now back at work on versions of game on the Playstation 4 and Xbox One. Showing off the progress of the next-gen titles, the developer posted an image on Feb 4 which showed fans a screen of the upcoming Minecraft: PS4 Edition next to the PS3 version of the game for comparison purposes.

4J Studios confirmed that the top screen gives an example of the Playstation 4 edition of Minecraft, while the bottom screen belongs to the currently available Minecraft: PS3 Edition.

Next-generation versions of Minecraft are expected to release on both the Playstation 4 and Xbox One later this year. Minecraft: PS3 Edition is out now as a digital download via the PS Store. The PS3 version sold one million copies in its first month of release alone. The game continues to perform strongly on other platforms as well as the PC edition has now sold 14 million copies while Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has reached 11 million sales.
